Psychotherapy can help by providing a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with the guidance of a caring, non-judgmental, trained professional. It offers tools and strategies to help you manage your stress, cope with trauma, improve relationships, and make meaningful life changes. Through various therapeutic approaches—such as mindfulness-based therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and somatically based therapies, such as psychomotor therapy (PBSP), EMDR, and AEDP—you can gain insight into your emotional patterns, challenge negative thinking, heal historical wounds, and build resilience. Ultimately, therapy empowers you to better understand yourself and live a more balanced, fulfilling life.
No matter what the therapeutic approach, every study shows that the most important predictor of successful therapy is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. You should feel that your therapist is someone you can genuinely connect with and trust—someone who hears you, understands you and respects you. If it’s a good fit, you should feel comfortable being open and honest, even about difficult topics.
Over time, you should notice progress—whether that’s gaining new insights, feeling more hopeful, or handling challenges better. It's also important that your therapist’s style aligns with your needs. Therapy is a personal journey, and the right match can make all the difference.
You can trust that your therapy sessions will be totally confidential. Knowing that everything you share is private is essential for building trust, and creating a safe space where you feel secure enough to share your deepest thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Without confidentiality, the therapeutic alliance—and the healing process itself—can be compromised. The only exception to this rule is when someone expresses the intention to harm another person or themselves.
Though we have many tools we can use—from insight-oriented therapy and mindfulness practices, to mind-body approaches like EMDR, AEDP and Psychomotor therapy (PBSP)--psychotherapy is not about imposing a modality on a person. Rather, when it’s working well, it’s a rich collaboration that facilitates a process that is tailored to your own unique needs. We follow your thoughts, feelings and physical body to explore your truth, to clarify what is needed for healing, and what needs to be released in order for you to live a life that feels authentic, fulfilling, and free.
I am a licensed psychotherapist, but do not work directly with any insurance companies. However, if you have out-of-network coverage, I can send you a monthly statement which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Fees are on a sliding scale between $150 and $250, depending on a few different factors (session length, type of session, income level, etc.)
Yes, sessions are generally online. However, in Santa Fe, I have a hybrid practice, and do make some in-person sessions available on request. I also make in-person sessions available on request when I’m in New York City, several times a year.
